The Trust currently works with the London School of Economics and University College London. Potential beneficiaries are identified by the institutions. The criteria and selection process is clearly set out on the LSE and UCL websites.
A representative of the Trust may be invited to be a member of the selection panel, but the Trust itself does not consider individual applications, nor will it influence the decision of the selection panel against the recommendation of the panel as a whole.
In considering potential candidates, the panel is encouraged to think in terms not only of the intellectual content, rigour and originality of the research, but of the practical application of the analysis to current problems of intolerance, always bearing in mind the interest of the Founder of the Trust not only in the nature of intolerance but in identifying “a means to combat it”.
The Trust has already funded the education of several PhD students at the LSE and UCL. A brief description of who they are and what they have achieved can be found on our case studies page. Now that there will be significant additional funds in the endowment the trustees are planning to expand the number of scholarships.
This purpose of this website is not only to direct those who might be interested in scholarships, but, in due course, to support the core mission of the Founder by providing a forum for past and present beneficiaries to share ideas and experiences, and thus strengthen the potential for the practical actions and outcomes hoped for by the Founder.
